Sometimes things need to fall apart so other things can fall together

Hello friends. How silly am I. I will spin my wheels off in Antarctica and not realize I had a job right up the road from my house.
Since the recession sucked my techs out of me (the pay plummeted and I couldnt keep them full time or else lose money to keep working), I was going to study the trade of telecommunication and drive.

Why? I already have a non-profit company almost a year old, I am very public, have a huge facebook and online presence, conduct public speaking, and held a global concert to expose domestic violence.

Ive expanded my audience by covering things like a biker's run, a zombie walk, a Buffalo Bills tailgate party, and speaking at colleges!

Why am I going to learn cross-connections in a telco closet, what was I thinking!?

I started posting my availability all over and the same day, I got called by some companies to hire me out for promotions. Well color me happy, that's what I love to do, hand out free stuff, smile, and mingle with the public!

The past week has been booking after booking! Two weeks ago I had the flu, was shivering in bed under the blankets, and the gas company came and shut me off (Im in Buffalo NY). I have hit as rock botom as I could be before going homeless.

If I had a dime for every time I heard my needs would be met, then, heck, my needs would be met. I made the last 2 calls today, one to internet adn one to cell phone carrier... everybody is in check now. I can do the jobs, get paid, and feel like a real mother again. Not being able to afford a good meal or school supplies had me feeling pretty low.

It never tarnished my spirit though, for months my slogan has been, 'piss poor, my spirits soar..' :)

Thanks friends... its not easy, but you have to be proactive and aggressively go after things you need. Im not even talking about wants here. I want a new computer desk, but I need to keep my lights on.

Thanks for being encouraging and sharing my friendship and conversations. I hope you google me and read my articles, see my photography and check out some of my videos.

About didlees

I am almost 50 and have been in West Texas all of my life.  I am now finding myself needing to change careers.  My desire is to open up my own restaurant, but am needing more education in order to do that.  I also need some sort of financial aid to help with household expenses while I am being re-educated.  Is there any programs available to someone in my position?  We have not been able to make our house payment for 4 months and forclosure is right around the corner.  I need to move fast!  Any guidance would be most helpful!

Career change to pilot

I am a 40 year old white male with 20 years experience as a truck driver. The transportation industry is the area that I have have always worked in and want to stay in. Since trucking has become less and less of a challenge I would now like to learn to become a commercial pilot. The reason I am researching grants is because through my internet research I have found that good flight schools that I can attend full-time have a cost that range from thirty-five to sixty thousand dollars. I am always seeing websites that claim the government has all this grant money that they're "just waiting" to give away. So I'm hoping I can get my share to pay for my schooling. I then intend to sell my house to pay my living expenses for the next couple of years or however long it takes to get a job as a commercial pilot.

Does anybody know of any US government grants that a man over 40 can get for education? I'm looking to change careers withing the transportation industry but schooling is expensive. I'm a US born, middle-class citizen. This seems to be a factor in receiving a federal grant so I thought I should put it in here.
